Family History

In 1960 Silverio Mazzone (pictured top right) immigrated to Australia with a dream to open up his own nursery. For nearly 10 years he worked together with his brother Alfredo (pictured middle right) in one of Europe's Largest nurseries "Vivai di Maccarese" just outside Rome in Italy. Here they gained their Qualifications and a wealth of knowledge and ideas. Even though they would eventually part company, they continued to share their insight and experiences for the rest of their lives. Following his dream, Silverio Mazzone established Mazzone's Nursery in 1963 with help from his wife Maria and kept it as a small family business for almost 30 years.

Founding of the nursery

Silverio's knowledge and experience was passed onto all members of his family until his death in 1990. His dream continued when his grandson Anthony decided to start Amazon Plant Growers in 1995 and today runs the business together with his father Tony and his wife Catherine.
